Cloudflare Uses an AI Harness to Probe and Harden Its WAF

THE AI ANGLE
Mutating attack payloads to probe firewall rulesCloudflare tested its Web Application Firewall by using AI models inside a Python harness to mutate previously blocked attacks. The system produced 1,107 attempts, which led to 49 findings and three firewall rule updates after human triage. Security engineers can adopt this harness pattern to safely test defenses against adaptive payload variations.
THE TEACHING ANGLE
Practitioners can debate how to balance automated model-driven payload generation with the manual review needed to confirm real vulnerabilities.Read the original at infoq.com Generate teaching or study materials
