Deep learning model using ECGs during sleep studies can predict cardiovascular outcomes

THE AI ANGLE
Predicting long-term cardiovascular risk from single-lead sleep ECGsResearchers developed a deep learning model that evaluates single-lead ECG signals recorded during overnight sleep studies to predict 10-year cardiovascular outcomes. The tool successfully estimated risks for atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and death beyond standard clinical metrics. This gives clinicians and engineers a way to repurpose routinely collected sleep study data as an early screening tool for heart disease.
THE TEACHING ANGLE
The model successfully predicts heart failure and atrial fibrillation, yet it still requires optimization to detect myocardial infarction and stroke from the same single-lead data.Read the original at medicalxpress.com Generate teaching or study materials
