THE AI ANGLE
Predicting viral protein complex structuresThe AlphaFold Database published open predicted protein complex structures for more than 2,800 viruses that infect humans. Researchers can use these models to identify targets for diagnostics, drugs, and vaccines before outbreaks occur. The release also provides free structural data to scientists working in low-resource settings.
THE TEACHING ANGLE
Classes can evaluate why computational structure predictions cannot determine viral behavior or mutation effects without laboratory testing.Read the original at phys.org Generate teaching or study materials
