Plants can speak using electricity, so this startup built an AI model to decipher their language

THE AI ANGLE
Interpreting microvolt electrical signals to detect plant needsElectric Plant built an AI model called Bombadil to decode electrical microvolt signals collected from plant stems. The system uses inexpensive wireless sensors screwed into plant tissue to monitor needs for water and nutrients. This setup gives growers internal physiological data to adjust irrigation and fertilizer schedules instead of relying only on external soil probes or satellite imagery.
THE TEACHING ANGLE
Students can examine whether inserting hardware into the cambium layer introduces biological stress that could alter the electrical signals being measured.Read the original at techcrunch.com Generate teaching or study materials
