Shipping container–sized system could offer power plants an energy-efficient approach to carbon capture
Chemical EngineeringEnvironmental Science
THE AI ANGLE
Driving rapid growth in electricity demandResearchers designed a modular carbon capture system that fits inside standard shipping containers. It uses electrochemical cells to remove carbon dioxide from exhaust gases without large absorption towers. The approach allows operators to adjust capture capacity by turning individual units on or off.
THE TEACHING ANGLE
A class can examine the trade-offs between electricity-driven modular capture and heat-driven absorption towers in natural gas facilities.Read the original at techxplore.com Generate teaching or study materials
