THE AI ANGLE
Enabling autonomous navigation and flight control for uncrewed cargo transitPoseidon Aerospace is developing Egret, a 50-foot drone designed to carry 4,000 pounds of freight without a cockpit or onboard crew. Removing pilot facilities allows the aircraft to maximize internal storage and reduce transit costs. The project will test whether dedicated autonomous airframes can effectively substitute for conventional cargo haulers.
THE TEACHING ANGLE
Engineers and logistics planners can assess whether eliminating cockpit weight offsets the operational uncertainties of communication links, remote pilot stations, and unmeasured fuel efficiency.Read the original at techradar.com Generate teaching or study materials
