THE AI ANGLE
Autonomous obstacle mapping and route selectionNASA's Perseverance rover set a new off-world driving record of 28.10 miles. It reached this mark in five and a half years using an autonomous system that maps hazards and plans paths on the move. Planetary robotics teams can now shift from slow teleoperation to continuous onboard navigation for long-distance travel.
